A noun is a naming word for a thing, e.g. chair, the word verb is a noun because it's a naming word for a doing word. There are 4 different types of nouns which include:-

Common noun: is a noun basically; bed is a common noun.
Abstract noun: is a noun that can't be touched, making words such as sadness an abstract noun.
Collective noun: is a noun for a collection of things, e.g. cattle.
